What is the largest structure you’ve demolished?
The tallest structure, at five stories high, was the old W.H. Miner Chocolate Factory (aka: Handy Chocolate Company) at 1616 Berkshire Ave in Springfield. The largest structure in terms of square footage was the 120,000 square-foot Columbia gas of Massachusetts building at 2025 Roosevelt Ave. in Springfield.
What are the top reasons for demolishing a building?

What type of equipment is used in demolitions?
Every job is different and requires different equipment. Some of our most used equipment, believe it or not, is a push broom and good old hard work. Our biggest piece of equipment is our “Volvo 380 High Reach Excavator” standing at 80 feet high.
How do you determine what elements of a building can be reused, recycled, or salvaged?
We call on our business partners that specialize in the work at hand and have them come in and assess the building prior to demolition. Mass Obtain is our sister business. We partner with Nick Burns who runs a 10,000 square-foot warehouse in Palmer, where you can find our antique and vintage finds, including the most sought-after items – vintage hardware, doors, and corbels.
